Dear Internet Customers,
It's with a sad heart that we're announcing the end of Monticello
Pro Net and Internet Bement local dial-up Internet service. Our
last day of service will be August 29, 2008.
The dial-up services and all related customer help services will end
on that date.
The economics of running a small-scale local Internet service for
a dwindling number of dial-up customers, spread over two counties and
in 8 different towns, makes it impossible for us to continue offering
the service.
We've worked diligently for many months to find a local Internet Service
Provider [ISP] willing to offer dial-up service, and customer support
to our customers, in our local telephone exchanges. Unfortunately,
we found no one interested in taking on the costs and responsibilities.
We appreciate your customer loyalty. We have enjoyed providing service
to customers, friends and neighbors throughout Piatt County and Champaign
County, during the 10-year run of Internet Bement and the 7-year run
of Monticello Pro Net.
For
those of you in Ivesdale, Seymour and Sadorus, who have been dialing
into a Champaign telephone number [351-4020], your accounts can
be transferred to our friends at Shouting Ground Technologies,
Inc., [known as “Shout”], who have been our
reliable upstream Internet partners for a decade.
The rest of us who have been dialing into 762-5222 in Monticello,
have two options:
- Have us transfer your account to Shout and dial into
the Champaign access number, 351-4020, [for which you'll probably
be charged a toll call by your long-distance provider]. With this
option, you will be able to keep your E-mail address @ivesdale.net,
@bement.net [but not bement.com], @piattcounty.net and @monticellopro.net
- End your service by August 29, 2008, and choose a
new Internet Service Provider.

claim any refund that may be due to you and to specify what action
you'd like us to take with your account. This form must be postmarked
on or before August 29, 2008, in order to claim any refund for
unused Internet Bement or Monticello Pro Net service. No refund
claims postmarked after August 29, 2008 will be accepted. Unused
service refunds will be mailed within 60 days of your end-of-service
date as marked on the enclosed Reply Form.
